Elders

We as shepherds desire to model servant leadership.  We know that who we are is much more important than anything we say.  May we provide a Christlike example that is easily followed.

Doug Bryant

Doug Bryant was born in 1970 and has lived in or near Springtown all of his life. He and his wife, Kristi, were married in 1988.

Doug Bryant elder

Doug Bryant was born in 1970 and has lived in or near Springtown all of his life. He and his wife, Kristi, were married in 1988. They have four sons who are all currently still educating themselves so that they can obtain gainful employment and support their parents’ retirement. Doug and his family live in Paradise, Texas and he works as the Technology Director for Poolville ISD. He has served the church as a Deacon and Youth Minister (which explains the picture) before accepting a shepherding role. He is by far the most handsome of the Elders, and his humility is legendary. He also noticed that while all of the new Elders were asked to write a bio for the web site, none of the pre-existing ones wrote their own. He basically just did this one quickly to get the New York Yankee picture out of his spot.

BYRON DIAL

Byron Dial was born in 1965 in California. He left that state after his high school graduation and studied at Lubbock Christian University.

It was there that he met Stacy and they married in 1988. Both he and his wife graduated from LCU in 1990 and did youth ministry in California for four years before repenting of their ways and returning to Texas in 1994.

Byron served as youth minister for this church for 8 years before stepping down to teach in the public school system. He currently serves as the Assistant Technology Director, Teacher, and Bus Driver at Paradise ISD.

He has three children; a daughter who is married and living in Temple Texas, and twin sons who are scheduled to graduate from Oklahoma Christian University in 2018.

DAVE HUSKY elder

Dave Husky and Sandra were married on June 16, 1973 at the Northwest Church of Christ.

They have one son, Eddie, a CPS Investigator, living in Lubbock. Daughter, Katie Huskey is a dental hygienist in Fort Worth. Daughter Kari Littlepage is a dental assistant living in Benbrook. Son-in-law Adam Littlepage lives in Benbrook working as a Mission route salesman. Dave and Sandra have six grandchildren to love: Caden and Ashley Huskey and Kylie, Jackson, Grayson and Miles Littlepage.

Dave is retired from 35 years employment at Winn-Dixie, where he was a store manager and supervisor. Sandra currently works as a service manager at a local bank.

Dave was baptized into Christ at the age of 19 at Northwest Church of Christ and has served the Lord all his life. He has served as deacon at Northwest, Midtown, and Springtown churches, before becoming an Elder at the Springtown congregation.

Over the years he has had the privilege of baptizing all of his children into Christ. He also was blessed to baptize his father and mother before their passing.

Dave loves the Lord and His church with all his heart and seeks to shepherd the members with the love of Christ.

CHARLES JENNINGS

Charles was born in Knox City, Texas on December 4, 1940. He grew up on the Hamilton Ranch, seven miles west of Benjamin, Texas. Charles was baptized during a Gospel meeting in the summer of 1953.

CHARLES JENNINGS elder

Charles was born in Knox City, Texas on December 4, 1940. He grew up on the Hamilton Ranch, seven miles west of Benjamin, Texas. Charles was baptized during a Gospel meeting in the summer of 1953.

He met Judy Hess on a blind date in 1960 and they married on November 4, 1961. They were blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. An “I love you PaPa hug” can talk him into just about anything the grandchildren want from a pony to a fishing trip.

Although the church at Benjamin was small, faithful men taught the boys how to be leaders. They learned to give talks, lead singing and pray. When Charles and Judy were first married and lived at Benjamin, Charles had to call on the skills he was taught, sometimes all on the same day.

Charles attended Fort Worth Christian College and received an Associate Degree in 1963. He retired from TXU in 1999.
Charles was asked to serve as an elder in 1984. Serving the Lord is his greatest pleasure and he is enjoying being more available to the church now that he is retired.

One of his favorite scriptures is II Tim. 2:7 “… I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.” His favorite song “Love Lifted Me”.

His prayer for the church at Springtown: that we will reflect the love of Jesus to all we meet.

As an elder here at the Springtown Church of Christ, he wants to be a servant of the Lord Jesus and a shepherd like the Lord Jesus.

GLEN LAMINACK

Glen Laminack and his wife, Carol, have been members at Springtown since 1985. Glen will only confess to being a native of Texas and Carol is from Poolville. Glen was baptized right here at our own Springtown church; we feel a special closeness to him for that.

Glen and Carol have two children, Janet (Cricket) and David. Cricket is a horticulturist (if you have any horti's a little rough around the edges, see her) and David is a firefighter in Fort Worth.

Glen became an elder in the church here in 1992. He feels that the church has honored him by choosing him for leadership and he also feels the awesome responsibility. He says this is the best congregation with which he has worshipped. He especially appreciates the others that he has served with and considers them a real blessing and inspiration in his life.

Glen was born in Amarillo on the 27th of September, 1940. He grew up in Amarillo, Wink (near Kermit, there really is this place! Honest!), Midland and Lake Jackson. He met Carol at North Texas at a college retreat of the bible chair. They were married in 1969.

Glen is a retired band director (but don't hold that against him, he's just another rowdy musician).
If you would like an example of the Christian attributes of humility, generosity and family kinship, spend some time with Glen and Carol.

David A. Pearson, IV and his family have been members of the Springtown Church of Christ for a grand total of about 15 years.  He and Candice have been married for 25 years and have three children; J.D. (22), Hannah Beth (19), and Cade, (14).  David and Candice commit in this present role to serving the Springtown family however God can use them.

David baptized all three of his children at Springtown, and all three have either been involved or are currently involved in the Youth Group.  David and Candice have hosted and been Life Group participants since the inception of Life Groups at Springtown.

During the summers, David and his family like to take trips to Colorado to hike a “fourteener”, one of the 58 peaks in Colorado that exceed 14.000 feet.   David is a criminal defense lawyer, and Candice is a fourth grade teacher at Paradise Intermediate School.  David’s favorite author is C.S. Lewis, and David likes to traffic in Lewis quotes.

David’s favorite scripture:

“Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”  Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Luke 23: 42-43 NIV.

KEN ROE

Ken Roe and his wife, Sandra are very special members of the church family in Springtown. Born May 30, 1943 Ken and Sandra married July 12, 1963.

KEN ROE elder

Ken Roe and his wife, Sandra are very special members of the church family in Springtown. Born May 30, 1943 Ken and Sandra married July 12, 1963. They have two daughters and a son.

Daughter Laura lives with her husband, Rodney, in Abilene, Texas while their second daughter, Leisa, lives with her husband, Barry, in Hugoton, Kansas. Their son, Chuck, and his wife, Kristy, live in Mansfield, Texas, and worship at the North Richland Hills Church of Christ. Ken and Sandra have five granddaughters and three grandsons.

Ken has a "choo-choo" made of barrels with wheels that he pulls around with his lawn tractor; when all his grandchildren were younger they loved to ride "PaPa's choo-choo". Now he has a golf cart that is the preferred mode of transportation on the Roe Estate.

When we asked Sandra to name any honors given Ken or achievements of which he might be especially proud, she said "He raised three children to be faithful christians.", certainly an admirable goal we might all hope to attain.

Ken is retired from Lennox Industries in Carrollton, Texas and was with that company for over 37 years. The Springtown Church extends it's heartfelt thanks to Ken and Sandra for all the good they do for us!
